Article 4 of the EU AI Act has required organisations that use AI systems to ensure an adequate level of AI literacy among their staff since 2 February 2025. It is not one mandatory course but demonstrable diligence: you can show who understands AI at what level, and what they use it for.
In levels: basics for everyone (what AI can and cannot do, data protection, checking the output), decision and accountability questions for leaders, and role-specific practice for daily users. We measure before and after with the AI Ready? assessment and document participation and content, so you have something to show.
AI systems used in recruitment and performance evaluation count as high-risk, and specific requirements apply to them from 2 December 2027. If you use such tools, your HR team and leaders need to be prepared for that too.
